Overview

This position is fully responsible for the management of the Cressier Manufacturing operations. The manufacturing site generates 300 M USD revenue on an annual basis.

The manufacturing operations include about 200 team members, on the 450 employees that work in Cressier.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing operations, including bulk production, filling, packaging, QC, maintenance and process engineering & improvement.
  • Lead and develop a team of 6 direct reports with a scope of 188 indirect reports.
  • Establish and fulfill yearly production plan. Avoid product shortage due to predictable interruption of operations.
  • Ensure quality of products, customer satisfaction as well as compliance to GMP.
  • Transfer new products from R&D to routine manufacturing operations.
  • Drive and improve manufacturing financials : standard cost, manufacturing variance, spending, scrap, inventory target & turns.
  • Trend, report and improve manufacturing KPIs.
  • Manage the Manufacturing infrastructure and premises : ensure clean, safe, well-organized and well-maintained manufacturing operations, and support EHS initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing operations by use of appropriate methodologies (5S, DMAIC, 6 Sigma, Kaizen, VSM )
  • Drive process optimization and automation to reach a world class level for efficiency, quality and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable corporate guidelines (FCPA, SOX), regulatory and international authority requirements (cGMP, ISO, TÜV, GMED, etc).
  • Partner with key stakeholders within our organization, and maintain good business partnerships.
  • Qualifications

  • Educational background in Biology / Pharmacy or Mechanical Engineering (MSc or equivalent education in Science)
  • 15+ years experience of Manufacturing production and Supply Chain, with experience operating in a GMP and regulated environment (In Vitro Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device)
  • 10+ years of leadership / management experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of quality systems, materials management, planning, production, cost reduction initiatives, project management, engineering / automation, new products introduction, product transfer, and production scale up.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent team player with a strong ability to communicate within a matrix organization and multicultural environment.
  • Pragmatic and resilient personality, with an innovative and creative mindset.
  • Thorough understanding of financial principles related to budgeting, standard costing, variances and gross margin management to drive sound manufacturing decisions.
  • Operational knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma. Black Belt a plus.
  • Proficient with Office Excel and Powerpoint, knowledge of ERP (such as SAP).
  • Fluent in English and French. German is a strong plus.
