Primary Function of Position :

Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority.

Within Intuitive Surgical, EMEA Legal acts as an enabling function to

  • actively support the business in pursuit of sustainable goals,
  • stand for a culture of ethics, care and responsibility, and
  • empower surgeons to serve patients.
  • Roles and Responsibilities :

    The position is based at the Intuitive European head offices in Aubonne, Switzerland

    at Intuitive offices in Oxford, United Kingdom. It reports to the EMEA Legal Director. In a matrixed functions / geographies set-up :

  • the position’s functional focus is legal guidance and support to :
  • Marketing (legal framework for events, advertising and promotion)
  • Market Access and customer benefits optimization (GAVE MACA Genesis)
  • Customer training (PEPS, training center agreements)
  • Public Affairs (GPA teams across Europe)
  • Media relations and communication
  • the position’s geographical focus is legal guidance and support to the UK and Ireland (UKI) Region
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :

  • Qualified lawyer with 5 - 8 years of professional experience, at least three of which in significant law firms.
  • Familiar with key laws and regulations applying to the manufacture, placing on the market, promotion and sale of medical devices in Europe.
  • Familiar with laws, regulations and best practices governing the advertising and promotion of healthcare products in European jurisdictions (incl.
  • comparative advertising and scientific communications).

  • Familiar with laws, regulations, Industry Codes and best practices governing Industry interactions with healthcare organizations and healthcare professionals in Europe.
  • Experience in contracting with major surgeon associations (e.g. Royal College of Surgeons)
  • Experience in contracting with public institutions (e.g. public hospitals and universities)
  • Experience in contracting with public officials (POs) and politically exposed persons (PEPs) / third party intermediaries interacting with POs and PEPs
  • Flawless and unquestionable integrity, lived up to and clearly communicated as an integral part of your business acumen with courage, determination and clarity of purpose
  • Mature personality, able to handle pressure when needed and to demonstrate resilience when appropriate : ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Experience and understanding of complex, matrixed and dynamic (changing) global organizations.
  • Thriving in deliberately diverse and inclusive international working environments.
  • Ability to prioritize accurately and to keep focused in a complex, changing, demanding and fast-paced changing environment.
  • English is Intuitive’s working language proficiency in German and / or French are an advantage other European languages are welcome.
  • Occasional travels (regional and overseas).
  • Ability to work from home if and as needed.
