Would you like to help us achieve this vision? As the Senior Safety Program Manager you will report to the Head of Program Management.

With the support of the management team of the Positioning Product Center, you will be responsible for defining and implementing the business and program management strategy of the u-

blox new functional safety organization.

This is a unique opportunity to build a new and highly business relevant product activity from the scratch. u-blox works within a very demanding market, and the functional safety projects will be building up key product features for our future growth.

As part of your responsibility and accountabilities, you will have to define the essential processes to achieve functionally safe products and you will help building the team of functional safety specialists (engineers, project manager, product manager) in accordance to the strategy and the processes you develop.

Our projects are multidisciplinary and include silicon, hardware and firmware development and verification activities. You will be responsible for making decisions based on clear justification considering different scenarios including budget-

resource-, technical- & market risk assessment and mitigation.

As the successful candidate you have at least 10 years of project / program management experience in the electronics industry and / or embedded software with a strong background in functional safety product activity.

You have very good business acumen and wish to pursue a career in program management in a technically challenging environment.

The role is located in Thalwil, Switzerland (Zurich). There will be occasional travel.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the strategy for the new internal functional safety organization
  • Being responsible together with the different sub-departments (engineering, program management, product strategy and technology) for building a team of functional safety specialists (identify needed skills, lead or support internal and external recruiting) with the aim to have an effective team in place until 2020
  • Direct management of a project management team (2-3 team members to start with) as well as management of project teams and technical project managers
  • Design and implement functional safety project processes to achieve high quality artifacts and ensure functional safety compliance (ISO26262) of our products
  • Maintain key relationships within the company and the leadership team to ensure strategic alignment and delivery of projects
  • Identify project conflicts and be responsible of the prioritization within portfolio in alignment with the product strategy department
  • Run projects according to our internal process guidelines
  • Your Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of experience as project / program manager in an engineering environment (ideally electronic / embedded software industry)
  • Proven leadership experience in leading, monitoring and motivating multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience in functional safety project management as well as in systems requirement management
  • Ability to manage technical risk and to make key decisions in a challenging environment
  • Entrepreneur and design skills, with a strong desire to be involved in the business strategy and to support product development and growth of the company
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management
  • Right to work in Switzerland is a prerequisite

  • Experience in a CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) environment
