In this role with high level of responsibility and visibility you will improve and globally align current approaches on Tech Transfer and operational processes in line with organizational strategy and ambitions.

You will strive to achieve to be best in industry for successful, efficient and reproducible Technical Transfers globally within project timelines, budget and compliance to all cGMP requirements to enable successful authority approvals of new sites for production processes in collaboration with the Division Ops / Site representatives, Customer Program Management, Quality and respective functions.

You will globally align existing technologies and support roll out of new technologies based on business needs and in collaboration with Process Development and sites.

In addition, you will improve business processes to ensure transparency, efficiency and compliance in collaboration with Operational Excellence and implementation by targeted trainings.

Furthermore, you will collaborate tightly with Operational Technology / Digitalization towards digitalization to reduce the risk of human errors for standard activities, gain efficiency, allow accelerated data access and process improvement.

Finally, you will develop a team with strong technical and leadership capabilities that is able to navigate and lead in a matrix organization as well as to represent Lonza to customers and authorities.

Key responsibilities :

  • Works with the team, sites and the relevant global functions to identify, define and scope strategic goals
  • Translates strategic goals into multi-year roadmaps including financial and non-financial goals and subsequent projects to be initiated and executed all over the global LPBN operations network at multiple sites
  • Aligned with the overall business strategy, identifies business cases, supports investment requests (CAR) and leads project execution for major process standardization and change & innovation projects at multiple sites
  • Actively selects appropriate team members capable to contribute to the project goals and acting as change agents in the Organization
  • Directs and motivates multi-disciplinary, multi-site project teams and holds team members accountable to deliver results within an agreed project governance structure to achieve the project goals
  • Actively leads changes to the organization for both, people and technical aspects
  • Overall responsible for the project budget; monitors effectiveness of implementation and reports back to stakeholders
  • Creates and fosters an environment that increases employee commitment and ensures that project goals are met in an effective manner
  • Leads multidisciplinary and multi-site project teams
  • Forge strong relationships with other departments (eg. QA, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Analytical Services, Engineering, Product Development, Commercial, Marketing, Business Development and Business Services)
  • Establish a lean and efficient governance mechanism at Lonza to enable early discovery of potential issues, their timely resolution including fast re-deployment of resources and authority for prioritization / budget adjustments and to promote, reward and celebrate best practices and successes.
  • Key requirements :

  • Degree in a Scientific or Engineering discipline
  • Significant experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably operations
  • Excellent working knowledge of GMPs
  • Proven leadership role in challenging tech transfers
  • Leadership experience of global teams with a technical focus
  • Agile and pro-active relationship management in a multi-matrix organization
  • Hands-on experience in complex (several unit operations, different geographies, several customers etc) tech transfers and similar multi-site projects
  • Strong experience in building, developing and leading direct and indirect teams
  • A proven track record of strong leadership across functions and strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to prioritise and make balanced decisions to meet critical deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills : simplifying the complex, making the message / request clear, providing options / proposals, ability to focus on the purpose and outcome
  • Ability to adjust to change in a fast changing environment and be a driver of change within the organisation.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • A comprehensive understanding of the major Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of six sigma, lean manufacturing and structured problem solvingHands-on experience in project management methodology and tools
  • Experience in either process development or manufacturing services (MSAT) for a deeper technical process knowledge
