Job Description

In cooperation with the international radiation safety team the Radiation Safety Officer acts as the principal subject matter expert resource to Varian’s management for operational and regulatory radiation safety throughout EMEIA&APAC.

Providing oversight and coordination of radiation safety compliance activities in this region, the RSO will ensure that Varian complies with all relevant radiation safety regulations.

A well-coordinated radiation safety compliance program will ensure an efficient radiation safety organization e.g. coordination of training activities, harmonization of procedures / instructions as well as employee radiation safety program.

Major responsibilities / tasks :

  • investigating and understanding of local regulatory radiation safety requirements applicable to Varian s activities (sale, transfer, import, export, installation and maintenance of ionizing radiation sources)
  • professional interaction with radiation safety regulatory bodies
  • efficiently drive required licensing / authorization with favorable requirements for Varian business
  • cross-functional radiation safety support of all Varian teams (sales, installation, service)
  • development of radiation safety training material
  • delivering radiation safety training to Varian occupationally exposed personnel
  • manage radiation safety training status for Varian occupationally exposed personnel
  • perform radiation measurements (workplace assessment / activation analysis)
  • Job Requirements

    Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge :

  • Qualified Radiation Safety Officer / Radiation Safety Expert / Medical Physics Expert
  • Experience in radiation measurements
  • Bachelors Degree in Physics / Health Physics or comparable educational background
  • Very good communication and teaching skills required
  • English a must additional languages a plus - Very good French language skills desired
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as : E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint..
