The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research and training.
Research at the Center for Psychiatric Neurosciences (CPN) focuses on psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, drug addiction and Alzheimer's disease.
Research projects are aimed at developing early diagnosis, as well as pharmacological and behavioral therapies using basic and translational approaches.
The goal of this project is to identify the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the antidepressant actions of lactate in animal models of depression.
The successful candidate will investigate the role of oxidative stress, energy metabolism and gut microbiota in the antidepressant effects of lactate using biochemical, molecular and microbiological approaches.
Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience or biology with a background in neurobiology and / or biochemistry and experience with rodent animal models.
The candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Strong expertise in one or several of the following areas : stress, depression, energy metabolism, oxidative stress, gut microbiota could be desirable.
If you become an employee at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, we will offer you the following :
A dynamic and stimulating research environment that integrates basic and translational approaches for investigating psychiatric disorders.
Collaboration with other neuroscience institutes in Lausanne (EPFL, University of Lausanne, and Lausanne University Hospital).
Attractive employment conditions.
