Why we are recruiting The Platform for Global Public Goods acts as a system leader and platform curator for the environment and natural resource security, food security, development finance and sustainable development activities at the Forum.

The Sustainable Development Investment Partnership (SDIP), an initiative under the Platform for Global Public Goods, is a coalition of 42 public and private entities with ambition to mobilize finance at scale in developing countries in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As the Development Finance Lead, you will join a small, motivated team based in Geneva to promote public, private financing approaches to address global development finance challenges at scale via a systems leadership collaborative platform approach.

You will be a catalyst in developing and driving the Country Financing Roadmap, a platform under SDIP, that aims to support developing countries with actionable steps and networks to understand the pathway to mobilising financing of national development plans in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reporting Lines and Interactions The Development Finance Lead will report to the Head of SDIP. The Development Finance Lead will work with teams and communities across all relevant Forum platforms, with the members of the SDIP community, and with all stakeholders at the country level, wishing to engage in Country Financing Roadmaps and related development finance actions.Main responsibilities

  • Support pilot countries in the roll out of Country Financing Roadmaps through all stages towards actionable national plans for mobilizing development finance;
  • Develop country specific value proposition and support pilot countries in implementing the roadmap. This should include the role of the roadmap in the context of addressing the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 crisis.
  • Contribute local and regional experiences and insights to the formulation of a new model of development finance or sustainable development more broadly, particularly as part of the COVID-19 recovery phase;
  • Collaborate with SDIP Regional Hubs to map and curate the platform engagement into a well-define multi-stakeholder community that can support countries efforts.
  • This includes preparing and attending meetings with high-level public decision makers and c-suite constituents;
  • Facilitate and support government-led activities in pilot countries, design and manage new activities (projects and / or collective actions) to drive the platforms’ agenda and priorities;
  • Prepare documentation and material for internal and external presentation around the actions taken at a country level, and on the broader context of Country Financing Roadmaps;
  • Assist in the programming and delivery of SDIP and Forum events related development finance and Country Financing Roadmaps to ensure strategic objectives are captured and advanced;
  • Build consensus around development finance and Country Financing Roadmaps among different stakeholders, varying from governments to private investors, and manage communities and relationships in this context.
  • The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • Ensuring the platform’s objectives and deliverables are met;
  • Ensuring countries and community members are actively engaged, and the Roadmap provides a clear value proposition;
  • Establishing the Roadmap as a recognized, leading platform for action to mobilize financing for sustainable development;
  • Preferred requirements and experience

  • Master’s degree from a globally recognized institution in economics or a related field of relevance for filling the position;
  • Solid understanding of development finance, sustainable development, and issues related to fostering sustainable markets;
  • At least 8-10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 in synthesizing and presenting complex issues in readily understandable formats and demonstrated systems thinking;
  • A broad intellectual background, with prior operational experience in developing countries. Demonstrated experience in spearheading new operations is a plus;
  • Outstanding organization, project and time management skills;
  • Willingness and capacity to quickly adapt to a fast changing and highly demanding environment and able to juggle multiple priorities;
  • Experience in working with international organizations, and knowledge of government bureaucracy and systems;
  • Demonstrated success in collaborative environments and in maintaining strong relationships;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a cross cultural, multi-country, private / public context, with proven ability to deliver presentations to senior executive sand senior public sector representatives;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; familiarity with French would be an advantage;
  • Quick learner, self-starting, flexible and service-oriented team player.
