In this role, you will be a data scientist who will drive data integrity, risk identification, and trend analyses across the Global Development Operations (GDO) portfolio, and will be accountable for daily operations within the SENSE control room.
You will leverage SENSE, and other analytical techniques including explorative applications of machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence to translate data insights into operational insights in collaboration with GDO Portfolio Managers / Directors and the partnering line functions (GDO, PS&I, GCS, CD&A, NIBR, MA).
You will act as a GDO PortFolio Management (PfM) technical lead for the development, implementation and enhancement of predictive planning tools and data science projects (incl.
SENSE, Data42, reporting governance, and STRIDE dataflow).
Your responsibilities will include :
Day to day operations within the SENSE control room
Drive the utilization of SENSE and other analytical techniques to identify data integrity challenges, operational risks, and trends across the GDO portfolio
Collaborate with GDO Portfolio Analysts and GDO Portfolio Managers to interpret risk / trend signals (data and operational)
Lead the translation of data insights into operational insights by working with relevant partners to scope data science requirements : needs identification, hypothesis generation, data discovery and methodology proposal
Prepare relevant data and prototype appropriate analytical models
Proactively identify risk / trends to enrich future portfolio model rule definitions and predictive analytics within the SENSE application
Act as a GDO PfM technical lead for design, implementation and enhancement of predictive planning tools and data science projects (incl.
SENSE application development / enhancement, Data42, reporting governance, and STRIDE dataflow)
Drive business efficiency within GDO PfM through the development of performance measurements, and the delivery of state-of-the art automated reports
Support the development of GDO PfM communication material, ensuring clarity and precision around the delivery of key messaging
Be responsible for design, maintenance, and management of GDO PfM Intranet / SharePoint sites
Be responsible for the development of training to GDO Portfolio Analysts
What you’ll bring to the role :
Master degree in quantitative field like Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree (PhD) is a strong plus;
business management training or experience (e.g. consulting) preferred
English oral and written
5+ years post-graduate experience in a multidisciplinary data & analytics environment or in research
3+ years of hands-on applied mathematical modeling experience in a business environment preferably across industry sectors
Expert knowledge of advanced applied data science (machine learning, neural networks, etc.), mathematical modeling, computational, statistical and data mining techniques (regression, decision trees, clustering etc.)
Proficiency in R, Python, MLlib, TensorFlow, Matlab, SAS, SPSS or collection of equivalent data science packages and frameworks
Proven experience in working with large datasets and relational databases (SQL)
Knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus (C++, Java)
Experience with User Experience (UX) design and Design Thinking
Experience in program planning and management skills including experience with project management methodology and tools (preferably Agile)
Track record of success driving independently data science in the design and implementation of software or data and analytics solutions
Strong communication skills both verbal and written, and ability to communicate analytical and technical content with clarity to non-experts
Result-driven achiever with demonstrated leadership with the ability to inspire others, build strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders
Raw inquisitiveness and intellectual curiosity, along with excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to break apart issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
