The incumbent will :

  • Assist in researching best practices in the area of psycho-social themes and trends and well-being;
  • Assist during trainings on mental health and well-being;
  • Assist the Staff Counsellor in the design and elaboration of new well-being and mental health programmes and trainings;
  • Assist in research on psycho-social and mental health studies;
  • Attend and summarize meetings and working group on psycho-social, well-being and mental health fields;
  • Other tasks as required.

  • learn about well-being and psycho-social / mental health programmes at the United Nations;
  • be part of a dynamic team;
  • learn about and assist with other programmes in the Staff Counsellor’s Office as desired and required.

    Education

    To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme :

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements : a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • or b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • or c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charters; and
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Work Experience

    Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

    Languages

    Fluency (both oral and written) in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

    Assessment

    Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

    United Nations Considerations
