We do this today to build a better tomorrow.The RoleThe Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Ophthalmology Discovery and Translational Area (I2O DTA) of Roche Pharma Research and Early Development is our Innovation Center located in Basel, Switzerland.

Reporting to the Head I2O-DTA Operations, Portfolio Management and External Alliances, a member of the I2O-DTA Leadership Team, the Head External Alliances is responsible for all non-Roche Partnering external innovation activities.

He leads, manages and develops a small team of External Alliances Managers and Alliance / Project Managers.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following : Initiation, implementation, management and communication of global external alliances with academia, consortia and governmental organizations to enrich the I2O portfolio and enable progress of individual research programs.

Drive external alliances from initiation, evaluation, establishment to long-term management with academia together with I2O internal scientific champions, Roche Partnering team and other external innovation groups in pRED.

Based on regular review of DTA needs, external innovation strategy to fit with the current pipeline / portfolio needs of the I2O-DTA.

May identify high-quality opportunities consistent with DTA strategy and needs.Successful and smooth implementation of collaborations and alliances.

Effective Alliance Management to deliver value to Roche through effective leadership of collaborations and alliances, including proactively identifying and resolving key issues.

Provide successful partnership governance as specified in the contract.Manage, track and communicate the I2O external collaboration portfolio incl.

project deliverables, timelines, budget in collaboration with project leader and DTA line function managementRepresents I2O External Alliance Management in meetings and boards discussing external collaboration proposals, implementation and alliance management (RRC).

Efficient communication to internal stakeholders.Support individual project planning, communication, coordination and allocation of internal and external resource usage across the portfolio to maximize chances of achieving portfolio deliverables.

Lead and support strategic initiatives in I2O-DTA related to External Innovation and Alliances, including but not limited to external funding opportunities.

Provide effective alliance management for Private-Public Partnerships such as Roche-BARDA strategic partnership, IMI-EU projects.

Successful collaboration with Functions across the Roche organization, e.g. Legal, Patents, FinanceSupport initiatives within I2O-DTA Operations, e.
