PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to the R&D Fabrics & Trims Manager, the R&D Trims Specialist manages all scouting / development / sourcing activities of trims in order to ensure product alignment, quality, cost and development requested by Design team and Product Development teams.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Look for new mills in order to have an appropriate vendor basis with company goal in terms of development, quality and cost / margin
Develop fabrics proto in terms of quality and design, based on Designers’ moodboards and requests
Finalize Trims Specification Sheet and cost based on company target
Maintain company system about Trims
Purchase Orders for SMS cut based on quantities and timing in agreement with company calendar
Approve printing for SMS and Bulk productions
Manage any quality issue for SMS and bulk productions
Support quality control at third parties laboratories
JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Visit on-site mills and fairs to finalize any fabric research, proto production requested by Designers and PD
Daily contact to receive and comment all protos received from mills
Control, coordinate and approve all specs for yarn dyed, dyed fabrics and printed / jacquard fabrics
Negotiate SMS and Bulk production costs
Cross costing among all mills in order to meet company targets
Education preferably in textiles, clothing or business related disciplines or equivalent work experience
Significant previous experience (minimum 3 years) in the same role and field (R&D in Fashion Companies)
Good knowledge in trims, fabric and apparel product development
Strong technical understanding of fabrics / trims construction and up to date on seasonal fabrics / trims trends
Critical Thinker, rigorous and well organized
Self-motivated, focused on meeting deadlines and able to multitask within a fast-paced environment
Strong management and problem-solving skills, in addition to excellent marketing sense
Good judgment, proven responsibility and strong analytical skills.
Capability to work under strict, short deadlines
General knowledge of Guess product offer across different lines will be considered a plus
Working on cross-functional and multi-national teams
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers.
Fluent English. Any other language will be considered a plus.
Proficient with MS-Office programs
