Global Property & Fire Protection Engineer Role : Supervise and direct the review of building construction in the manufacturing network with a focus on fire suppression system plans and specifications to ensure business continuity and ensure compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards.

Lead and manage relations with insurance company, vendors, Technical Operations and other internal stakeholders. Main responsibilities :

  • Prepare, organise and participate in site property loss prevention surveys and audits. Act as a key liaison between insurance providers, group finance, the global manufacturing network and Engineering & EHS teams to define priorities and ensure proper follow up and timely implementation of corrective / preventive actions
  • Perform building, fire code, and fire / explosion hazard analyses and determine capabilities, shortcomings, and solutions to address deficiencies regarding property protection and fire protection systems
  • Review, commission, and test fire protection systems for hazard assessment and compliance; including fire alarms, sprinklers, special hazards, and water supply systems.
  • Proactively review and support building improvements / changes / extensions in collaboration with the relevant project manager and / or manufacturing site.
  • Assist sites in vendor / equipment selection

  • Act as point of contact and subject matter expert for technical support related to fire prevention, ATEX risk assessment, Business Continuity planning, and Emergency Response.
  • Provide hazard risk information to update annual Group risk reviews

  • Conduct fire prevention / risk mitigation workshops and training. Share best practices and provide managers, project managers and employees with the required skills and knowledge.
  • Required Experience & Competencies :

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in fire protection engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of the international fire protection codes : NFPA and FM and sprinkler systems. Certification by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers is a plus.
  • At least 10 years’ relevant work experience in specialised engineering consultancy, insurance company or chemicals / pharma industry.
  • Demonstrated project management experience. Self-directed and driven to accomplish goals / meet deadlines
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to influence and work across organisational boundaries.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, excellent command of English and preferably another European language.
