Core Software Group (CSG) has the charter for all software development across switching, wireless, network services, routing, optical software and Enterprise routing and cable access.

As Engineering Manager, you will lead a dynamic team producing state of the art features that drive Cisco’s product and innovation roadmap.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality products, reliably and on-time, with a team of experienced engineers, who you will motivate, mentor and grow.

You will also collaborate with senior leadership to work towards aligning your team and business unit’s goals with that of the company’s strategic objectives.

The main responsibilities are :

  • Lead a project team of high-performing engineers involved in the development of software for Cisco’s next generation Wireless Controller.
  • Responsible for defining development, integration and test strategies, project planning and execution, including scope definition, resource / effort estimation, risks and mitigation plans.
  • Lead, implement and be an advocate of engineering processes within the team and work with other Engineering Managers to ensure consistency across teams.
  • Responsible for scheduling, tracking and reporting of progress against plans to Cisco & Customer Project Managers.
  • Responsible for developing and managing collaborative relationships with partners, both internal and external, to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
  • Responsible for all personnel management of the group; ensuring 1-1’s, appraisals, training, career development, recruitment, pay and performance in accordance with company practice.
  • Responsible for mentoring staff to develop their full potential
  • Represent Cisco inside the team to foster engagement and outside as a company advocate
  • Be a role model for the Cisco people deal

    You have a solid understanding of large, complex software systems and knowledge of networking in switching, routing, wireless or security.

    You possess the necessary skills to work in a highly collaborative, inclusive, and agile atmosphere in partnership with cross-

    functional teams including business partnersEducation and ExperienceMSEE / CS with 10-13 years of experience, or BSEE / CS combined with 12-

    15 yrs related experience, or equivalent; 3-5 years as people managerDesired Skills

  • Outstanding people management skills and passion for people development
  • Relevant previous experience managing a team of software engineers
  • Mastery of software engineering on complex, dynamic systems with large code bases
  • Strong communication (verbal, writing and presentation) and leadership skills are essential
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of accountability, good team player, able to handle multiple tasks at once and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Focus on industry-standard quality and productivity practices
  • Solid understanding of Wireless Networking Technologies
  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging complex system with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Awareness of modern virtualization technologies (VMWare / EXSi, KVM, HyperV) and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, etc.
  • Experience with C programming and Unix / Linux development tools
  • Cisco Networking certificates, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc. are desirableWhy Cisco
