Ridgeline Discovery is looking for a Business Development Manager / Director .

Ridgeline Discovery, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in Basel, Switzerland.

In recent years, Ridgeline has assembled an international team of >

35 highly experienced drug discovery professionals and built and operated several new successful companies, including Black Diamond Therapeutics (Nasdaq : BDTX), Bright Peak Therapeutics and Monte Rosa Therapeutics.

Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation efforts in small molecules, biologics, and gene / cell therapy with focus on oncology and immunology.

Ridgeline Discovery GmbH is seeking Business Development Manager / Director for its Basel office who will be integrally involved in its licensing, partnering, and procurement activities .

The Business Development Manager / Director will also be involved in activities relating to the creation, operation and development of partner companies as well as other firm-wide initiatives as required.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented and possesses exceptional organizational skills.


The Business Development Manager / Director plays an integral role in the success of the company. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Leading the preparation and negotiation of business contracts / agreements e.g. NDAs, CDAs, purchasing agreements, supplier agreements, CRO agreements, SRAs, licenses etc.
  • Involvement in the structuring, drafting, negotiating, and executing agreements with appropriate legal input
  • Working with external partners e.g. CROs, academic institutions, Pharma partners etc.
  • Establishing and maintaining the necessary processes to track agreements and ensure compliance to contractual obligations

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and post-graduate qualification (MBA and / or PhD)
  • Experience in Pharma / Biotech
  • Negotiation experience and a track record of leading and closing agreements
  • Good understanding of contractual, financial, and commercial disciplines
  • Patent and legal knowledge / understanding
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills and good attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and results oriented
  • Ability to make recommendations on agreements
  • Good communicator, spoken and written
  • Highly proficient in English
