A special focus of our work comprisesthe analysis of so-called cancer stem cells. These cells are the origin of the disease and the main reason for relapseafter initial response to therapy.
Aim of our re-search is to improve and develop immunotherapies for cancer patients.Our research makes primarily use of syngeneic tumor mouse models and primary patient material.
The position offers abrought insight into translational research starting from animal models to clinical application.The challengeWe have an open position for a highly motivated PhD student in our lab.
The focus of the work is the translation andvalidation of immune-related targets identified in pre-clinical settings towards clinical application.
The aim of theprojects will be the functional characterization of immune-related receptors on leukemia stem cells and evaluating thepotency of targeting these receptors on leukemia stem cells using monoclonal antibodies, bi-specific T cell engagersand CAR T cells.
These translational research projects will provide opportunities to learn and use state-of-the-arttechniques in immunology (e.
g. FACS analy-sis), molecular biology (e.g. CRISPR and RNA sequencing) and stem cellbiology (e.g. colony formation assays).
Your profileThe successful applicant is expected to have a Master degree in biological sciences or related disci-plines andexperience in NK cell and T cell biology and immunological techniques (e.
g. FACS, T / NK cell assays) as well asmolecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR and next-generation RNA sequencing. Experience with mouse handling andexperimentation are desirable.
