Statistics (Tenure Track)
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for atenure-track faculty position in statistics at the Assistant Professor levelbeginning August 2019.

Applicants must have a solid theoretical and applied backgroundin statistics. Expertise in the areas ofstatistical learning and Big Data are highly desirable.
The successfulcandidate will contribute to the statistics community at Cal State Fullertonthrough teaching, research, professional activities, and service.
Teachingresponsibilities will include a wide spectrum of theoretical and applied coursesin statistics and probability, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Teaching may also include courses in the mathematics curriculum, depending onbackground and interest of the applicant. Further responsibilities includeconducting research resulting in publications in high-
quality peer-reviewedjournals, conducting faculty-student collaborative research, and advising students. A successful candidate will have theopportunity to participate in a transdisciplinary Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics and to contributeto the growth of the newly established StatisticalConsulting Center within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
A Ph.D. in statistics or related field must be completed bythe appointment date. Preference will begiven to candidates who have :

The Mathematics Department has 31 tenured or tenure-trackfaculty members and offers an undergraduate degree program with concentrationsin statistics, actuarial science, pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and teachingmathematics.
The department also offers the following degree programs : M.S. in Statistics,M.A. in Applied Mathematics, and M.A. in Teaching Mathematics.

The Statistics Program
The statistics faculty research areas include Bayesian statistics,statistical computing, spatial statistics, experimental design, and survivalanalysis.
Faculty are active in application areas of neuroscience, geology,biostatistics, psychometrics, epidemiology, bioengineering, and finance.
TheCenter for Computational and Applied Mathematics provides high performancecomputing to support faculty research. The statistics undergraduate program includescourses in probability theory, stochastic processes, statistical modeling, and statisticallearning.
The M.S. in Statistics program serves the growing demand in theworkforce for professionals with knowledge and training in data science and quantitativeanalysis.
Moreover, the program prepares students interested in graduatestudies at the Ph.D. level. The M.S. courses are conducted synchronouslyin-
person and via two-way stream on the Internet.

This is atenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate withexperience and qualifications.
