The Role

  • Lead all new business development efforts to achieve growth targets for Catalent Biologics’ offerings across the sites in Brussels, Belgium, Limoges, France, and Anagni, Italy.
  • These will include new early stage programs (cell line development to cGMP clinical manufacturing), and a key focus on Phase II / III and commercial tech transfers.

  • Develop a strategy and value proposition to target the right mix of customers / products to achieve business growth objectives and ensure strategy execution.
  • Manage and continue to build a team of business development professionals across Europe responsible for identifying and signing new deals.
  • Define and ensure execution against appropriate targets / metrics aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Work with commercial operations and legal teams to oversee negotiation and closure of long-term client contracts.
  • Partner closely with marketing to define and implement marketing and targeting strategies to drive growth in new business funnel.
  • Act as a key partner to site general managers and other functional leaders (operations, product development, quality, finance) to deliver a One Catalent proposition to clients.
  • Build a pipeline of technology license deal opportunities by targeting the appropriate partners, promoting the SMARTag technology, identifying collaboration opportunities and structuring, negotiating and closing license agreements.
  • Work across Catalent Biologics’ other service offerings to create customized solutions for SMARTag license partners and drive additional fee for service revenue.
  • Identify, negotiate and close other partnership opportunities to advance development of the SMARTag technology platform.
  • Work with Catalent Biologics leadership to develop the ongoing strategy to maximize value from the SMARTag platform.
  • Identify other new technologies that would be a fit for the Catalent portfolio and negotiate in-licensing agreements.
  • Coordinate closely with Vice Presidents of Business Development for Biologics Drug Product in the US and Europe to drive significant increase in OneBio integrated deals across Biologics offerings.
  • With commercial operations and Biologics leadership, act as a key relationship manager for key customers.
  • Act as a key member of the Catalent Biologics leadership team, to drive strategy development and overall business leadership.
  • The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business administration or other related field with an MBA and / or advanced scientific degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of biotech business development and licensing experience is required
  • Strong track record of leadership including coaching and developing teams
  • Experience and demonstrated track record in both product out-licensing and technology platform out-licensing.
  • Specific experience and knowledge of Drug Substance including Antibody Drug Conjugate technology (ADC Technology) is required
  • Strong fundamental strategic, commercial and deal negotiation skills; ability to appropriately evaluate and pursue strategic deals for the business.
  • Strong network of relevant contacts within the biotech industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to listen and communicate effectively with internal team members and management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong internal relationships within Catalent and with partner organizations.
  • Proven ability to organize and plan work and balance multiple priorities effectively meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with scientists and technical staff from customers and from the Catalent organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak clear English.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
