Teaching and learning (approximately 80%)
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Class Teacher, Deputy Principal and Principal.
Assist children in all areas of the curriculum allowing the children to learn by doing, exploration and experimenting with activities.
Provide support for groups or individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in specific activities
Establish positive relationships with pupils. Motivate pupils to be enthusiastic and listen to their concerns whilst providing relevant support for emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Support students who have learning needs or for whom English is a second language. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for relevant students.
Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observations and planned recording schemes providing regular feedback to the teacher on student progress or concerns.
Meet with the teacher on a regular basis to discuss learning activities.
Accompany students to specialist classes and provide support if necessary
Help with discipline both inside and outside the classroom.
Actively participate in learning about the school’s written curriculum and approach to teaching and learning.
Working hours Monday to Thursday : 12.30 - 3.30 pm; Friday : 12.00 - 3.30 pm
Administrative duties (approximately 20%)
Prepare and present displays of students' work
Assist with the preparation of the learning environment and the development of support materials
Assist students and teacher in the cleaning up after projects / activities
Support class teachers in photocopying and other administrative tasks
Participate in playground and bus duty as assigned
Undertake other duties from time to time as the Principal / Deputy Principal requires
Participate in training and other learning activities offered by the school
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records filing work, assisting with portfolios.
Standards and quality assurance
Support the aims and ethos of the school
Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
Arrange a regular planning meeting with the teacher to discuss future plans and share observations of students / program.
Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Principal / Deputy Principal
Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
Be flexible to ever changing activities and expectations.
Maintain confidentiality about students.
High school diploma required. Advanced qualifications, especially in the field of education desired.
A passion for working with children, and a strong interest in meaningfully supporting their social, emotional and academic growth.
Oral and written English language fluency required. Fluency in German and / or other language(s) desired.
Desire to take an active role in taking initiative and participating fully in all areas of school life for example, through activities such as attending school events, supervising clubs, coaching teams.
Patience, a desire to work hard, flexibility and a sense of humour.
