The role :

We are looking for an outstanding Materials Specialist Fabrics and Trims for our Timberland PRO team.

As part of the Product Development team, the new materials and trims specialist will be responsible for developments and commercialization of apparel materials to be used in technical workwear.

The candidate will be able to bring dynamic ideas related to either fibers, yarns, fabrics or finishing as well as willingness to understand safety and performance requirements and regulations.

The candidate will own and steer the process from concept to sourcing / development through to adoption and technical approval for all PRO fabrics.

Working closely with Design, Merchandising and Product Development teams, will ensure the design, technical and consumer needs of the product are met as well as target margins.

Primary accountabilities :

Seasonal materials developments (textiles and trims) as well as upkeeping of the carryover platforms, ensure Timberland PRO has the best material offer within the workwear segment when it comes to performance / price and sustainability.

Material development to solve every day’s problems of the skilled worker (breathability of garments, UV protection, fire retardant, moisture management etc.

working with testing team to guarantee correct tests are performed both for global and regional adoption.

Assuring the continuous improvement of safety, comfort, durability and value to the consumer.

Keep relationship with the leading innovators in chemical finishing, fiber producers and spinners as well as key mills to enable you implement the newest technologies / material solutions.

Market research to keep abreast of the technologies available to the skilled worker.

Upkeeping of material library

Responsible for the material portion of the UV testing procedure for EU market

How You’ll Make a Difference

University degree in Textile technology, Textile engineering, Material Science or similar BA or BS degree or equivalent field experience with a genuine interest in workwear

At least 5 years of experience in Fabric, Trim and / or Apparel Product Development, preferably in the industrial workwear category.

Excellent know-how of fabric application to support the functional needs of the product

Experience in workwear industry will be considered a real advantage

Excellent English (written and spoken) is a must

The experience and ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines

Strong global communication skills ability to travel internationally to trade fairs, suppliers and other partners
