Postdoctoral position in microbial immunology
The Institute of Physiology of the University of Zurich is located at the Irchel campus, which offers a strong academic environment and first-class research facilities.
The position is initially open for three years, with possible extension conditional on of a successful research project including the acquisition of competitive funding.
The research project is dedicated to the characterization of gut bacterial lipopolysaccharides and capsular polysaccharides in regulating mucosal immunity in mouse models.
The work includes the expression of selected bacterial antigens on commensal bacteria to assess their impact on the activation of T- and B-cells.
The objective of the project is to develop probiotic treatments for food allergies and autoimmune disorders.
The candidate should have a strong background in immunology and experience in microbiology. A FELASA-certified education and training in carrying out procedures on rodents is mandatory.
Background in molecular and cell biology is required. The candidate should be able to work independently but also to supervise students and participate in teaching activities.
Teamwork and communication skills in English (spoken and written) are of high importance.
