The goal of the methodological part of the project is to expand the formal and quantitative consideration of ambiguity of prior information as an important input to scientific predictions and to account for the uncertainty of stakeholder preferences in environmental decision support in addition to the uncertainty in predictions as they are considered in expected utility theory.
This is intended to lead to a more comprehensive assessment of the uncertainty of the expected degree of fulfillment of societal preferences by different decision alternatives.
For more details please see . The goal of the applied part of the project is to test the applicability of the suggested methodologies and their usefulness as perceived by the stakeholders in a case study of river rehabilitation prioritization in Switzerland.
This prioritization is planned to be based on the maximization of the ecological gain at the catchment scale under given budget constraints.
