Scope / Summary :

We are looking for a proactive, highly motivated self-directed individual with high standards and expectations against her-

himself and her / his team.

Direct responsibility and ownership for managing and improving all accounting and financial processes and controls for the legal entities in the DACH regions.

Work independently, drive positive change, including evaluating and streamlining of existing processes and controls to deliver accurate and timely results ensuring proper use of company resources and assets.

Maintain the integrity of the accounting systems in compliance with US GAAP, internal policies and statutory accounting principles.

Provide financial statements within required Legal Entities and internal schedules. Partner with local management and provide support and leadership in all financial belongings.

Key Responsibilities : Accounting

Accounting

  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reporting package to headquarters (HFM)
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with US GAAP, statutory and company policies
  • Prepare local statutory financial reports in compliance with local tax regulations and within the required time frames set by government
  • Coordinate and drive month-end process and ensure clear and crisp trial balance and variance analysis
  • Transact JE’s to ensure proper reflection of income statement and balance sheet
  • Prepare / review all account reconciliations and prepare / conduct timely balance sheet reviews
  • Manage / reconcile inter-company transactions and accounts
  • Coordinate tax declarations and local tax filing requirements (VAT, Corporate Tax, government statistics)
  • Coordinate payroll processing; transact related JE’s and payment & information flows with local Social Security carriers.
  • Manage and improve information flow with European Shared Services
  • Compliance

  • Ensure adequate internal controls are implemented and monitored, including SOX compliance
  • Ensure that all internal policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Finance
  • Authorize and approve expenses, capital expenditures and bank transactions
  • Proactively research and document conclusions on accounting and compliance issues with appropriate references to relevant GAAP, internal and external policies
  • Interface with auditors for audit requirements
  • Actively support on Transfer Price documentation and analysis
  • Create Ad-hoc reports and analysis as required
  • Miscellaneous financial projects, analysis and administrative duties as assigned
  • Understand and define objectives and problems
  • Continuously strive for improvement and suggest ways for cost reduction
  • Leadership & Management

  • Provide financial support to Entities management teams
  • Serve as key liaison between Operations, Sales, Marketing, HR, Finance, IT and Shared Services teams
  • Motivate, mentor and manage direct reports and peers
  • Assist in the continuous improvement, development, modification and implementation of financial systems as necessary. Leverage, learn and use DBS tools.
  • Education Requirements :

  • University degree in business administration, finance or related disciplines
  • Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), CINA certification is a plus
  • Experience Requirements :

  • 5-7 years experience as financial controller in a multi-site, industrial environment
  • Relevant experience with a US multi-national manufacturing company
  • Experience in a top audit firm is a plus
  • Competences / Skills Requirements (technical, procedural, social) :

  • US GAAP principles
  • German statutory accounting principles
  • Hyperion Financial Management
  • German native speaker
  • Fluent in English
  • Any other foreign language is a plus
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills
  • Results oriented with focus on achieving overall business objectives

  • Must have previous experience with large automated accounting and reporting systems (SAP a must, preferable Oracle and HFM), including data extract and report compilation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially Excel) required.
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of SOX, controls and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to think strategically
  • Must be hands on and highly motivated
  • Some international accounting experience would be a plus
  • Ability to work overtime and do what it takes to get the job done
  • Certification Requirements :

  • Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), CINA certification is a plus
