The Technology & Innovation Department is known around the world for spearheading developments and innovations in broadcasting and media technology and standardising these efforts, in areas such as IP networked media, immersive media, media cyber security, metadata, connected TVs, personalization and in digital radio.

Working together with experts throughout the EBU community, its aim is to keep broadcasters up to speed on technical developments and offer recommendations and innovation in related areas.

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud and Metadata technologies will significantly impact media production and workflows (e.

g. in News and Sports, Archives) and will be applied to analysis of video and audio content. It will be at the centre of the digital transformation of broadcasters alongside IP Network and Cloud based workflows.

The EBU is looking for a Senior Project Manager Media production over IP networks

The professional media organizations are operating a major digital transformation and the content production tools needs to be adapted.

Information Technology has been at the centre of this evolution since many years with the transition to file based workflows.

Now the same transition is happening with live production with IP networks and an increasing use of Cloud technologies all which is mission critical for broadcasters.

EBU is playing a leading role in representing the interests of the member’s organisations towards the industry of technology providers.

It accompanies the early adopters in building their know how and share the best practices via communities.

This role is to coordinate the portfolio of activities related to media production over IP, both uncompressed and compressed essences, private or public cloud, audio and video streaming solutions and modern networking and datacentre technologies in order to maximize the value EBU can provide to its’ members on this high priority topic.

Further tasks will include developments, setting-up pilots and demonstrations in our Lab environment or with EBU Members.

The ability to disseminate acquired knowledge to the team and the Technical committee groups and to the wider EBU membership including external forums will be a key requirement.

The candidate is familiar with the key standards associations active in the field (SMPTE, AMWA, JTNM; etc) and has extensive experience in the details of media networking.

In addition, the candidate has experience in production workflows and high interest to their evolution in the IP and cloud world as well as future wireless B2B workflows (e.g. 5G and beyond).

Specific qualifications, skills and experience :

  • Broadcast engineering, Electronics engineering, or a Master in (applied) computer science
  • Operational experience with live television, radio or multimedia production
  • Facilitation and project management skills
  • Ability to get buy-in to complex technology projects by explaining the projects in terms that are understandable to a different range of stakeholders
  • Public speaking
  • Presentation skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Programming skills is a plus
  • Industry standard networking certification is a plus
  • Pro-active, open minded, creative above all : curious and eager to learn.
