  • Summary*The General Manager Basel is responsible for all the clinical trials business operational activities of Allschwil site, Switzerland.
  • This leadership role drives the execution of operational plans, supported by continuous improvement initiatives to achieve profitability targets, while ensuring that mutually effective customers relations are developed and maintained.

    The role has full site P&L responsibility and leads a team of approximately 13 reports, direct and matrixed. Reporting directly to the VP & GM of the Clinical Services EMEA Business Unit, this leader acts as an active member of the Business Unit Senior Leadership Team, to set strategy and drive prioritization and full execution of strategic and annual goals, embracing initiatives that are closely aligned with global and go-to-market strategies, as well as customer and colleagues needs.

  • Responsibilities Lead actions to achieve budgeted growth and profitability results for the site, relative to established objectives, ensuring appropriate steps are taken to mitigate any unforeseen business challenges.
  • Be accountable for the site financials / P&L and operational performance, as well as for all aspects of the business including Operations, Client Services, Finance, HR, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Regulatory and IT, Continuous Improvement & capital Investments.
  • Partner with other GMs, business units (Clinical Supply Solutions, Clinical Labeling Services, BioServices) and regional functional leaders to ensure a smooth operational execution and to pursue business growth opportunities.
  • Actively engage with our customers to strengthen key partnerships, enhance our services to solve key challenges, and deliver profitable financial growth through.
  • Champion and pursue outstanding quality through our quality culture initiatives, promote GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), support our continuous improvement processes (PPI), assure regulatory and safety compliance and support Commercial and Marketing colleagues in driving innovation.
  • Develop and lead the site master plan and related investments, in line with Strategic plans of the business unit and the division.
  • Enable strong succession planning and career development pathways for the leadership team, through the business.* Serve as a Role Model Leader demonstrating strong communication and interactions with colleagues, promoting positive employee relations and fostering customer-centricity throughout the site.
  • Minimum Qualifications : Education Bachelor of Science degree in business or a scientific / technical subject area. Advanced degree such as MBA or masters preferred.
  • Experience 10+ years of pharmaceutical or supply chain industry experience, in a leadership role.* Successfully partnering with other leaders within a matrix organization to achieve common goals* Experience leading, mentoring and developing diverse teams* Experience directly running a P&L*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Ability to provide strategic leadership, drive vision with purpose and intensity* Strong decision-making ability and orientation to results* Strong focus on commercial, customer experience and a commitment to excellence* Build high performing team culture and talent development* Continuous improvement approach, able to challenge the status quo and drive the change by innovating* Good financial acuity* Excellent communication skills, both English and German.
