Matterhorn Biosciences is looking for a (Senior) Research Associate, CRISPR Cell Biology .

Matterhorn Biosciences is a recently established biotechnology company in Basel (Switzerland) pioneering the development of first-in-class T cell therapy for cancer treatment.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with a positive can do attitude, hands-on, strong analytical and organizational skills, and works independently.

You will further strengthen our team by contributing to the development of Matterhorn Biosciences. You will help increase the biological understanding of programs as well as developing novel biological assays to help propel our company forward.


  • Tissue culture of primary cells and cancerous cell lines
  • Using CRISPR to genetically modify primary cells
  • Assessing cell surface markers as well as secreted proteins using FACS
  • Transduce cells using electroporation and lentiviral infection
  • Cellular cytokine assessment by ELISAs and FACS
  • Developing novel and state of the art multi-cell assay formats
  • As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the design and conduction of the above-mentioned experiments including careful documentation and presentation of your results in internal and external meetings.


    You have a laboratory apprenticeship from a major pharmaceutical company or a Master’s degree in one of the in biotechnology, biochemistry, biology or a related field.

    Specifically, we are looking for a candidate that brings :

  • 4+ years experience in biotech or industry
  • Experience in use CRISPR / Cas9 or other gene editing methods to engineer cells for either knockout, knock in, or labeling of endogenous proteins
  • Experience conducting, analyzing, and documenting experiments
  • Proficient at a range of molecular biology techniques including but not limited to PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and FACS
  • Experience with culturing primary cells and cancerous cells
  • Experience in running routine assays for development of a therapeutic
  • Experience working with primary immune cells
  • Know-how in design and evaluation proper experimental design and ability to work independently
  • Able to work in a highly flexible environment
  • Able to communicate with team members and cross-functional project teams
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
