Job Overview

The Director Digital Health owns the technology strategy and development for the company’s digital health and software solutions initiatives.

This is a visible and critical role for a visionary technology executive who sets strategy and leads an inspired team.

He or she is charged with developing aligning and communicating the company’s digital technology vision and strategy, bringing it to life with a product roadmap, and driving product adoption with the company’s internal and external customers.

The primary focus areas include but are not limited to connectivity for autoinjectors, digital functions in autoinjectors, other digital products and services.

This is achieved by managing a global team of Digital Health Specialists, Data Science Experts, Health Economics Specialists and Software Engineers interacting with other stakeholders in the global matrix organization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Further develop the company’s technology vision and strategy in close alignment with business development, Global Head Emerging Technologies and Digital Health, CTO, CEO, and senior management
  • Manage the overall digital health product and software service portfolio and roadmap of SHL Medical based on an end-to-end strategy including monetization and reimbursement.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of the SHL Medical digital health portfolio, specifically regarding digitalization of mechanical autoinjectors, platform development and services(1) built.
  • Work with the Global Head Emerging Technologies and Digital Health, CTO, CEO, and broader management team as an active and strategic influencer.

    Be able to influence and drive change in mindset, process, and outcomes.

  • Coordinate with product management teams on product plans and associate roadmaps to support the digital health strategy and to meet business needs in appropriate time and quality.
  • Define the scope, specifications, and content of product releases, set timelines for those releases, and manage the development and validation efforts to those timelines.
  • Act as a contract software technology developer for internal and external customers end-to-end, from ideation until commercial release.
  • Closely work with Customers, Business Development, Sales and R&D to define needs for next generation products.
  • Define processes and organizational elements for aspects regarding operations and integration of the digital health platform and ecosystem.
  • Build a high performing Digital Health team, foster team collaboration, and establish a culture of creativity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Develop an organization structure that is optimized to deliver on the vision. Periodically review and reorganize teams to address capabilities and gaps as required to deliver on business priorities.

  • Provide cross functional leadership to execute the digital health strategy. Share technical, procedural, and business knowledge with others.
  • Frequently communicate progress on the product roadmap and milestone commitments throughout the team and organization drive visible results.

    1) Including device centric value chain services, defence against counterfeit product, etc.

    Skills and Qualification

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or related field.
  • Major work experience in a similar role, ideally in the regulated medical device market.
  • Strong knowledge about technology needs and trends in the healthcare sector, specifically in drug delivery and digital health.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, ability to convince others
  • Reputation for being a collaborative thought partner and business leader, with ability to organize and motivate work across multiple team boundaries.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and to work well in high-pressure environment.
  • Proven track record in building, managing, and mentoring highly successful teams.
  • Fluent English is absolutely required for this global role, German or another language is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel required.
